John Chapter 1

The Good News

Daddy lead me to study John chapter 1 today and I love when he opens your eyes to see scripture in new ways. Below is my study from today, in bold you will find my personal reflections from the verses.  I have included the strongs definitions next to the main words for you for easy study.  As always please don’t take my word for it, dig in for yourselves. Bible and Blue Letter Bible are great free sites to use for study. Blessings.

John 1:1-8

In the beginning was the Word (logos) and the Word (logos) was with God, and the Word (logos) was God. He was in the beginning with God.

God=The Word (Logos)

All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

In Him was life (zoe God life); and the life (zoe) was the Light (manifestation of God’s self-existent life-revelation and acceptance of God’s way of life) of men (mankind).

In Him is His Life, Zoe Life and that Life (God’s very life) was the Light of Mankind (Jesus). Jesus was God’s Zoe Life manifested on the earth in Human form.

Zoe life is the Light or manifestation of God’s self existent life in me. God’s Self existent life means I only exist through Him alone and not through any other being or cause like self works. In Him I live and breathe and have my being. Acts 17:28

The Light shines (sheds light, brings to light) in the darkness (spiritual darkness: root: skotos-the principle of sin with its certain results) and the darkness did not comprehend it (seize tight hold of, to grasp in a forceful manner, making it one’s own).

Light=Jesus, Jesus shined Truth into the darkness (sin=unbelief) and it wasn’t comprehended or received.

John 1:9-14

There was the TRUE Light which, coming into the world enlightens (God sharing His life, exposing and overcoming darkness, like the ignorance caused by sin (unbelief)) ever man (mankind).

Jesus shared God’s Life with us, he showed us what it looked like in Human form so that we could see it.

He was in the world and the world was made (came into being) through (on account of) Him, and the world did not know (recognize, perceive) Him.IMG_8391

He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive (take, acknowledge) Him.

But as many as received (lay hold of aggressively) Him, to them He gave the right (Power to act, authority) to become (emerge, signifies a change of condition, state or place) children (anyone living in full dependence on God, willingly relying upon the Lord in glad submission) of God, to those who believe (have faith in, trust in) in His name, (manifestation or revelation of someones character),

who were born (a descendant) not of blood (especially as shed), nor of the will of man (to desire, wish, mans will), but of God.

We were born of God’s very life, not of shed blood, not of mans desires but of God alone.  We are his children (sons/daughters) when we believe in His very character, the truth of who He is.

As the word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory (exercising personal opinion which determines value, His infinite intrinsic worth, what evokes good opinion), glory as of the only begotten (the only of its kind) from the Father, full (full of presence of the Lord) of grace and truth.

When he came and revealed himself in the flesh we saw His glory, the very value, worth and true character of who He is, grace and truth.

John 1:16

For of the fullness of Him (fullness=sum total, super abundance, supply) we have all received (actively lay hold of to take or receive, accepting what is available) grace upon grace.

For of His super abundant supply we receive grace upon grace.

If that isn’t good news I don’t know what is praise God that
we were born from His very Life, Zoe Life.  Praise God that we have seen that very life in action in human flesh and Jesus promised us that we would do even more, even greater things than what he did.  That my friends is the Good News.  Any news that doesn’t leave you feeling freer, more joyful, encouraged is not the good news of Christ.
