I use to think that I needed man’s approval for things that I did or wanted to do. I was under the wrong thinking that I must get the approval and go ahead from others. I needed to seek wise counsel or I was foolish. I was seeking counsel from the wrong people however, because of my misunderstanding of my own identity and the power that I carry within me. I thank Daddy for his revelation and His Spirit that is my counsel and so much more. Let’s look at Isaiah 11:2 and break it down a bit.
And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. Isaiah 11:2
Rest: We can see in Matt 3:16,17 that the spirit came and rested upon him. Rest here means permanently; not merely come upon Him. In the Old Testament the Spirit had come and rested upon people but never permanently as it did with Jesus. (Num 11:25, 26) The Holy Spirit does not come and go, it is always upon us as it was with Jesus, it’s not going anywhere if you are a believer.
Wisdom: to be wise, wisdom it is the fruit of understanding (see below) Where does wisdom come from? Both words used for wisdom in Isaiah 11:2 and Proverbs 12:15 are the same, wisdom is ours though the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. Wisdom is a fruit that comes from the Holy Spirit alone.
Understanding=knowledge, the root of this word means to discern, so the type of knowledge here is discernment. Discernment is defined by Websters as perception in the absence of judgment with a view to obtain spiritual direction and understanding. It is perceiving and seeing how Daddy sees, which is exactly what Jesus did. Divine Perception! (John 5:19)
Counsel here is advice, it also denotes Divine purpose. It is the same word as used in Proverbs 12:15. God defines our purpose here on earth. Unfortunately to many of us have wrong perceptions on what our purpose is, I use to think it was primarily to serve Daddy, but he is showing me I was not created to just be a gardener, praise God, we were created to be His Friend, co-heirs with Christ, sons and daughters, seated at his right hand.
Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man is he who listens to counsel. Are we looking with our own perception, or the perception of others or the wise counsel of the Holy Spirit. One who listens to the Holy Spirit, who sees his Divine Purpose through Daddy’s revelation is truly wise.
Look at who Jesus sought out for counsel? Who did he seek to define his purpose, to get direction on decisions? Was it men? Are you seeking who Jesus sought for his counsel? The Holy Spirit inside of you is your counsel above all else. (See Isaiah 11:2, Eph 1:17)
Knowledge here is Yada-which means to know, to ascertain by seeing with certainty. We are blessed by the Holy Spirit to know Daddy, he reveals him to us in such intimate ways.
Fear here means reverence. Reverence is defined as profound adoring, respect, adoration. “I fear by respecting his way of thinking. When I think like Him, His Spirit brings forth (His) fruit, His personality, in me.” Bertie Britts
The Spirit in us allows us to deeply know Daddy and out of that knowledge effortlessly flow our profound love and adoration of Him. We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19 Don’t you just Love that.

Daddy I pray blessings and favor over each person reading this today, I trust that you will speak to each of their hearts and reveal yourself to them on a deeper level. That their eyes would be open to the great power within them and they would begin to walk with confidence in who you are calling them to be.
